Jack Taylor (OCVN '09) is setting up salamander monitoring transects at TWC. We need help laying out the coverboards.We'll be working in Sigrist Woods and along the Wilderness Walk. It's a great chance to be outside and help us get our salamander monitoring underway! No skills necessary - we'll provide gloves if you need them!

OCVN Holmes County chapter "club"
November 12th will be the 2nd meeting of the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists.
The meeting will be held at The Wilderness Center.
Time : 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m
There will be a short business meeting, announcements of volunteer opportunities, and then a special program to follow!!! These programs will be an excellent chance for all of us to share interests and learn about more about natural history. Please join us for some fun, sharing, and learning! Great things are to come!!!!
Special Speaker will be Leslie Harrold presenting, "Don't Touch That Plant!" Her talk will deal with various toxic plants, their characteristics and "lures".

Vernal Pool Digging
When: October 31st, 10-2
Where: The Wilderness Center

We'll be doing the ground work (literally) to create a vernal pool. It will be muddy work - we'll be digging and grading the hole, seeding, etc. It will be mostly hand-shovel and wheelbarrow work. - we'll provide the tools and lunch - you provide the elbow grease.

TWC's annual non-scary Halloween event - we need trail leaders (fireflies) for both Friday and Saturday night. Fireflies carry lanterns and guide groups along the pumpkin lit trail to meet the characters. This event takes about 100 people a night.
